Our traditional hazel and willow hand carved gypsy or storm pegs have been popular with props departments around the UK… including Chichester Festival Theatre and Shepperton and Shinfield Film Studios, amongst others! If you’re a props manager or purchaser and would like a custom order making for you - just get in touch and let us know what you need and we can supply any quantity (within reason!!).
Made in the traditional way from a rod of willow, partially split and bound at the top with a strip of recycled steel. Known as storm pegs, gypsy pegs, these would have been the pegs your granny, great-granny, and definitely your great-great-granny, will have been using to hang out the washing. These are whiter than the hazel, but just as springy!
They're lightweight, durable and designed to firmly grip to keep your washing secure.
Approximately 125mm or 5" in length. Due to the nature of the material each is unique in terms of its profile and diameter. Chunkier hazel ones also available if you prefer an easier to grip peg, see other listings.
Made from local, sustainably sourced willow and made in small batches.
